In the badlands of Cali-for-ni-o, Cactus and oco-tillo
Bighorn sheep, Desert fox, And mountain lions roam
I met a girl who stole my heart, We swore that we would never part
In the Anza Borrego Desert Bloom

Hand-in-hand, we walked for hours, Her beauty shone like cactus flowers
Her brown eyes danced beneath the desert sun, 
Raven black, windswept hair, Her laughter filled the desert air
I met her when the desert was in bloom
The Anza Borrego Desert Bloom

The day, it ended all too soon, Coyote howled a lonesome tune
As we embraced, and kissed good-bye, beneath the desert moon
Here today, gone tomorrow, parting is such sweet sorrow
Love is fleeting, like the Desert Bloom

The bloom is past, the flowers dead, Buzzards circle overhead
Tumbleweed and rattlesnakes, Guard that desert tomb
Now, the land is parched and dry, Timeless sun across the sky
Memories of you, and Desert’s Bloom
