HILDE, THE NORWEGIAN ELKHOUND
©Gary Bowman Fury of the tide, with ceaseless roar Sound the strait with sail and oar Our souls delight in the high seas Hilde, my Norwegian Elkhound and me I played upon the harp, and Hilde, the drum Enchanted by the music, the crew soon succumbed Kneeling, they pledged their loyalty To Hilde, my trusted Elkhound, and me Our ship set sail for an island afar Guided by sun-stone and stars A dragon fierce guarded treasures untold Hilde grabbed the dragon’s tail, I grabbed the gold A thunder cloud struck, with fury and roar Our battered ship wrecked on the shore Of a new-found-land, with rivers and trees ‘Twas there we settled, Hilde and me |
