©Gary Bowman Come, gather round me children, A story I will share About a dog, who sailed through the air Myrtle was a super-star, the talk of ev’ry town The accolades were many for this Frisbee-chasing hound When Myrtle saw that silver disk, Sail across the sky She’d race like a lightning bolt, And catch it on the fly This acrobatic Vizsla, would gravity defy It’s Myrtle, Myrtle on the fly Legend goes, or so I’m told, the Moon was shining bright When she saw that glowing disc, Myrtle took to flight Racing like the wind, launching like a rocket ship So begins the story of Myrtle’s lunar trip We’re cheering for this moon-struck dog, And singing a new tune It’s Myrtle, Myrtle on the Moon It’s Myrtle, Myrtle on the Moon Myrtle marveled at the galaxy, And saw a million stars To go where none have gone before, She blew past planet Mars Speeding like a comet, racing through the Universe Streaking through the heavens with a super-sonic burst Now, she’s at Orion’s side, Sitting proud and tall It’s Myrtle, the brightest star of all Myrtle, Myrtle, Myrtle, Myrtle, The brightest star of all |
