©Gary Bowman In a smoky room, Where poets gather Thoughts become, Words like flowing water There I met the lovely Ajolote Through the glass, Darkly I see you Another world, Where I might be you Something lost, Draws us together Now, I’ve found my lovely Ajolote Aztec salamander’s obsessive gaze Piercing golden eyes burn through the haze Aztec salamander’s obsessive gaze Piercing golden eyes burn through the haze In you, another way of seeing You are the essence of my being Mysterious, aquatic marvel, Gills and tail, forever larval Have you seen the lovely Ajolote?
