DEVIL WIND IN PARADISE
©Gary Bowman From the East, the winds came calling, Blowing like a hurricane O’er drought-stricken foothills, Parched land that cried out for rain There, the town of Paradise Not knowing of their plight For they never saw it coming Twas like a thief in the night First a spark, and then the fire Was upon the town The Wind fanned the wall of flames, Nothing could slow it down Devastation and Destruction, There’s a Devil Wind in Paradise From the ashes, Resurrection, Like the Phoenix, We will A-rise Don’t you hear the Wind a-calling? It calls you by your name And like a furnace, It will blast you And cast about you deadly flames Thousands fled Paradise that day, Through flames and smoke One way in, and one way out The roads were traffic-choked The fire struck with a vengeance, Nothing could save the town A scene from Dante’s Inferno Paradise was burned to the ground Devastation and Destruction, There’s a Devil Wind in Paradise From the ashes, Resurrection, Like the Phoenix, We will A-rise |
