IT'S A ZOO AROUND HERE
(BUT IT’S A JUNGLE OUT THERE) ©Gary Bowman (2008) Said the Lion to the Tiger, “I don’t know about you, Gonna Make a Break, I’m a-leavin’ this zoo. I’m a-goin’ crazy, Gotta find a new scene, Where the river runs free, and the grass is green.” Said the Tiger to the Lion, “Then you better beware, It’s a Zoo around here, But it’s a Jungle out There!” Everybody rushin’, Racin’ all around; Spinning their wheels, At the speed of sound. Sooner or later, they gotta come down; Still, I wonder, Will they ever touch the ground. Spinnin’ their wheels, But they ain’t goin’ nowhere; It’s a Zoo around here, But it’s a Jungle out There!” Lion says, “Can’t be as bad as it seems, Life’s a trip, fueled by our dreams. Big adventure, Take it all in stride, Now, hold on tight, Cuz we’re taking a ride.” Said the Tiger to the Lion, “It might give you a scare, It’s a Zoo around here, But it’s a Jungle out there!” Angry people fightin’, Takin’ it to the streets; Gotta be so careful, of the people you meet, Everybody takin’ much more than they need; Thinking of themselves, Consumed by greed. (Yeah, they’re just captives to their greed) Do they think about the children, And all the hungry mouths to feed… Said the Lion to the Tiger, “I’m beginning to see, Gotta think of others if we wanna be free, Gonna make a break, I’m a-leavin’ this zoo. Gotta help my brothers, and my sisters, too.” Says the Lion and the Tiger, “We just have to care; We can make a difference, In the Jungle out there!” If this world ain’t all that it should be, Gotta be the change that we want to see. Gotta make a difference, if we really care; Hey, It doesn’t have to be a Jungle out there. Hey, it doesn’t have to be a Jungle out there. |
