LIVING IN THE GARDEN
©Gary Bowman (2008) Sun comes up, On my island home; Wallabies and emus begin to roam Kookaburra sings, From treetop high; His laughter fills the morning sky Wake up my papa, And my mama, too; It’s a trip to be a kangaroo! Joey in the pouch, Mama, hop along; Join our troop, C’mon and sing our song Yeah, Livin’ in the Garden, In harmony (With my) brothers and my sisters, (We’re all) happy and free My friends and my neighbors, (With the) birds and the beasts, Respecting all Creation, and living in peace. Sun is high, We’re layin’ low, Lions lazing ‘round the water hole A time to rest, A time to run; A time for soakin’ up the mid-day sun (Then the) Clouds roll in, On the Serengeti Plain; One drop, Two drop, Feel the rain Gazelles in the grass, Loping along; They’re runnin’ free, and singing their song Yeah, Livin’ in the Garden, In harmony (With my) brothers and my sisters, (And my) whole family My friends and my neighbors, (With the) birds and the beasts, Respecting all Creation, and living in peace. (Now the) Evening comes, With gentle breeze; Party of monkeys, Swingin’ in the trees Chatter away, Baby, Don’t you see, We’re just one big family Yeah, Livin’ in the Garden, In harmony (With my) brothers and my sisters, (And my) whole family My friends and my neighbors, (With the) birds and the beasts, Respecting all Creation, and living in peace. Moon comes up, Coyotes howl; California cougar, On the prowl Starry night, I lay me down; Crickets make such a beautiful sound Yeah, Livin’ in the Garden, In harmony (With my) brothers and my sisters, (And my) whole family My friends and my neighbors, (With the) birds and the beasts, Respecting all Creation, and living in peace. |
