MAYFLY SONG
©Gary Bowman

Sitting on a stump, overlooking the pond,
Reflecting the beauty, as new day dawns
Passing thought comes my way
How would I live, If I had one day?

No future, No fears,
No past, No tears
No rich, No poor,
No wealth, No treasures store

Breaking the surface of liquid glass
Mayflies emerge, and swarm en masse,
Threadlike tails, and lacy wings
One day to see what life will bring

A life that’s rich in every way,
Sunny hours on summer’s day
One sunrise, One sunset
A simple life, Is what you get

Sitting on a stump, overlooking the pond,
Reflecting the beauty, as new day dawns
