TALKIN' WEATHER BLUES
©Gary Bowman
“A great, great deal has been said about the weather, but very little has ever been done.”
-Mark Twain

Talkin’ ‘bout the weather, Well, mainly complainin’
Too much sun, Too much rain ‘n
Too much wind, Too hot, too cold,
Too much ice, And, now there’s snow
Everybody talks about the weather...nobody ever seems to do a darn thing about it...It’s a one-sided conversation

We’re Talking Weather, Whinin’, grumblin’
Lightning flashing, Thunder rumbling
Too much sleet, too much hail
No weather a’tall in this county jail
Ain’t no rainbow without the storm...and, I oughta know

Ever-body talking, Ever-body right,
Sun in the morning, Moon at night
The weatherman, He makes an honest buck
Right half the time, With a little bit o’luck
Nice work...if you can get it...that’s milk money!

If you’re lookin’ for rain, let me tell you what to do
You gotta plan a family bar-be-que
Beef ribs, pork ribs, hot dogs, chicken
Light up the grill, and the storm comes a-kickin’
Women and kids scramblin’...Grabbin’ drumsticks on the fly...Finger-lickin’ good

If you ‘re lookin’ for rain, let me tell ya, now, pal
Go on a picnic, with your best gal
Ya gotta wash your car, Go to the lake
Bet your money, a storm’s gonna break
Happens every time...have a back-up plan...go to the movies...Gone with the Wind

My old moo cow was a-scratchin’ her ear,
A sure sign that a shower is near
When she thumps her ribs with her tail
Lightning, thunderstorms and hail
You can count on Bessie...about half the time, anyway...with a little bit o’luck...milk on the side

High on the mountain just a-singin’ this song
When a summer storm came rollin’ along
Branches dancing, from ever’ tree
I’m just as happy as a fella can be
No such thing as bad weather...Just different kinds of good weather...
Now, s’cuse me while I dance in the rain
