©Gary Bowman (2008) Chainsaws and dozers, Leveled the land, The trees were all cut, None left to stand Now, I’m a misfit, with no place to go, Seeking a brighter day, In this world of woe Homeless, Abandoned, Orphaned, Too Lookin’ for a place, In the Misfit Zoo Cougars and bears, Once roamed free, Bison, as far as the eye could see Where do we go when it comes to an end? Where do we go, When we don’t fit in? A lot like me, and a lot like you, We all belong in the Misfit Zoo Red-tailed Hawk, Once ruled the sky, Shot in the wing, And left to die Unwanted, Unneeded, Barely alive, One chance on earth, That he will survive Crippled, Scarred, and Starving, too, All have a place, At the Misfit Zoo Three-legged Cat, Is on the prowl, There’s a toothless squirrel, and a half-blind owl Each has a song, Each has a dance; Each has a story, Of a second chance Adopted, Rescued, and Sheltered, Too They found safe harbor at the Misfit Zoo I’m just a misfit, Forever to roam, No family, No friends, Haven’t got a home ‘Times I get weary, and lonely, too; ‘Times I don’t know if I can make it through We all need someone, And I need you, Can I have a place in your Misfit Zoo?
